Funding Announcement
Textile technology startup STCH has raised 5.5 million dollars in a pre Series A funding round led by Omnivore with participation from Kae Capital and WVC. The company plans to use the capital to expand its AI stack, build a dedicated fabric research lab, strengthen mill partnerships, and enter markets such as the United States and Spain.
Founded in 2025 by former Zetwerk executives Narahari Payala and Aseem Chitkara, the startup is positioning itself as a backend innovation partner for global fashion brands.
Why This News Matters
Most technology innovation in fashion has focused on design discovery and personalisation. However fabric development remains slow manual and iteration heavy.
STCH is targeting this overlooked layer of the value chain by introducing AI driven decision making into textile formulation and sourcing. If successful this approach could reduce research cycles and improve manufacturing efficiency across the industry.
What STCH Does
STCH operates as a contract development and manufacturing organisation for fabrics. It works with global brands including Shein Crocodile and Being Human to design develop and source materials aligned with international fashion trends.
The company aims to become a full stack backend partner that supports brands from trend identification to final delivery.
How Its Fabric Intelligence Platform Works
The startup uses artificial intelligence to analyse global fashion trends interpret fabric compositions through image and data analysis and recreate similar materials through its manufacturing network across India and Asia.
It is also developing what it calls a fabric GPT trained on datasets of textile formulations and performance outcomes. The goal is to help brands achieve precise fabric characteristics such as softness durability and texture with fewer development cycles.
Sustainability And Material Innovation
STCH is also working on formulations that replace petrochemical based synthetic fabrics with biodegradable or recycled alternatives while maintaining performance.
For example the company has developed cotton based fabrics that replicate the feel of polyester without relying on synthetic fibres.
Global Demand And Expansion Plans
The company reports an order book exceeding 15 million dollars across markets including the United Kingdom Europe the United States and India.
With new funding in place STCH plans to expand its research capabilities strengthen supply chain partnerships and accelerate international growth as it works toward becoming a core infrastructure layer for modern textile manufacturing.
