Growth Sense Group has received SEBI approval for its Growth Sense Apex Fund, a Category II Alternative Investment Fund targeting a corpus of Rs 1,000 crore, including a green shoe option.
The Group has also launched the Growth Sense India Foundation, an initiative aimed at supporting entrepreneurship, innovation, enterprise creation and entrepreneurial leadership across India.
The two initiatives represent Growth Sense Group’s broader approach towards supporting businesses at different stages while also contributing to the development of India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The Growth Sense Apex Fund will primarily focus on growth stage investment opportunities.
The fund is designed to back companies that have moved beyond their early stages and demonstrated product market fit, revenue traction, scalable business models and strong execution capabilities.
Its investment strategy will remain sector agnostic, allowing Growth Sense to explore opportunities across different industries. The fund will primarily focus on private companies while also retaining flexibility to participate in selected pre IPO and public market opportunities where appropriate.
As India’s startup ecosystem continues to mature, the funding requirements of companies are also evolving.
Early stage startups often require capital to build products and find their market. But companies entering their next phase of growth require a different level of capital and strategic support to expand operations and build sustainable businesses.
The Growth Sense Apex Fund is aimed at companies that have already demonstrated traction and are now approaching a significant phase of expansion.
With a target corpus of Rs 1,000 crore, including a green shoe option, the fund marks a major expansion in Growth Sense Group’s investment journey.
The Apex Fund builds on the Group’s experience in startup investing through its existing SEBI registered Category I Angel Fund, which has a corpus of Rs 100 crore.
Over the years, Growth Sense has evaluated more than 2,000 startups and completed over 94 investments. The Group has also developed a network of more than 3,000 investors.
This experience has helped Growth Sense build its investment framework while working with founders and businesses across different stages of their journey.
The launch of the Apex Fund now takes that experience into the growth stage investment space.
Alongside the new fund, Growth Sense Group has launched the Growth Sense India Foundation.
The Foundation will focus on strengthening entrepreneurship and enterprise creation through areas such as entrepreneurship education, mentoring, incubation, acceleration, networking, research and knowledge sharing.
It intends to engage with entrepreneurs, aspiring founders, innovators, students, educational institutions, incubators, accelerators, investors, corporates, industry bodies and other participants in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The initiative will also focus on encouraging responsible leadership, good governance, ethical entrepreneurship and sustainable business practices.
The Growth Sense Apex Fund and the Growth Sense India Foundation have different mandates, but both form part of the Group’s wider approach towards entrepreneurship and enterprise development.
The Apex Fund will focus on providing capital to businesses entering their next phase of growth.
The Foundation, meanwhile, will focus on building entrepreneurial capabilities, strengthening communities and supporting the wider ecosystem around founders and businesses.
Together, the two initiatives reflect an approach that goes beyond investment alone.
For Growth Sense Group, the launch of the Rs 1,000 crore Apex Fund represents an important step from early stage investing towards institutional growth capital.
At the same time, the Growth Sense India Foundation expands the Group’s focus beyond investments by supporting the people, institutions and communities that contribute to entrepreneurship.
As India continues to produce companies capable of scaling beyond their early stages, access to growth capital and stronger ecosystem support will become increasingly important.
With these two initiatives, Growth Sense Group is positioning itself to participate in both sides of that journey by supporting businesses with capital while also contributing to the development of the wider entrepreneurial ecosystem.
