Funding Boost For Aquaculture Startup

Bhubaneswar based aquaculture and seafood export startup Aquapulse has secured Rs 45 crore in a funding round led by NABVENTURES through its AgriSURE Fund, with participation from IAN Alpha Fund.

The company plans to use the capital to strengthen farm level technology, improve disease management systems, expand farmer procurement networks across eastern India, scale processing and export operations, and support working capital requirements.

Why This News Matters

India’s seafood industry continues to be a major contributor to agricultural exports, with shrimp representing a significant share of the market.

Despite growing global demand, many small shrimp farmers face challenges such as fragmented market access, pricing fluctuations, limited technology adoption, and increasing traceability requirements from international buyers.

Aquapulse is positioning itself as a technology layer that can help bridge these gaps while creating a more efficient supply chain.

What Aquapulse Does

Founded in 2023 by Abhishek and Abhilash Dwivedy, Aquapulse operates a technology enabled procurement platform focused on shrimp aquaculture.

The company works directly with farmers across Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal through an aquapreneur led hub and spoke model.

Its platform provides support across the farming lifecycle, including water quality monitoring, feed management, disease early warning systems, harvesting coordination, and market access.

Building A Traceable Farm To Export Network

Aquapulse integrates pre harvest support, harvesting, processing, and export logistics into a single traceable supply chain platform.

This approach helps farmers access larger markets while enabling buyers to meet growing transparency and traceability expectations.

The startup currently exports shrimp to markets including China, Vietnam, and Japan, while also serving domestic institutional and modern trade customers.

Growth Plans After The Funding

With fresh capital in hand, Aquapulse plans to deepen its technology capabilities and strengthen relationships with shrimp farmers across eastern India.

The company is also focused on scaling processing infrastructure and export operations as it looks to capture a larger share of the growing seafood export market.

As global demand for traceable and sustainably sourced seafood increases, platforms that connect farmers, technology, and international buyers could become increasingly important to the future of India’s aquaculture industry.
