Skyroot Aerospace has successfully launched Vikram 1 into orbit, becoming the first private Indian company to achieve an orbital rocket launch. Mission Aagaman marks a defining moment for India’s growing private space industry and highlights the progress made since the sector opened to private players.
Very few private companies around the world have successfully developed orbital launch vehicles. Skyroot’s success places India among a select group of nations with private companies capable of reaching orbit, strengthening the country’s position in the global space economy.
A successful launch is only the beginning. The company’s next milestone will be proving reliability through future missions while attracting international customers in an increasingly competitive launch market. Long term success will depend on consistent launches, competitive pricing, and global demand.
Skyroot plans additional developmental flights before making Vikram 1 commercially available. The company is also working on larger launch vehicles and reusable rocket technology as it aims to become a long term player in the global space industry.
