Czech Republic-based edtech startup Readmio has officially entered the Indian market, bringing its innovative voice-reactive storytelling app to families across the country.
With a commitment to invest €250,000 over the next 18 months, Readmio aims to revolutionise the way children experience stories, blending traditional narratives with modern technology.
Readmio’s app utilises advanced voice and speech recognition technology to enhance the storytelling experience. As a parent reads aloud, the app detects specific words or phrases and triggers corresponding sound effects and music, creating an immersive experience for the child. For example, reading about the wolf knocking in “The Three Little Pigs” prompts the app to play a knocking sound, bringing the story to life.
CEO Jozef Šimko expressed enthusiasm about the Indian launch, emphasising the company’s mission to ensure every child hears a fairy tale daily, nurturing imagination and intelligence.
With over 500 stories in multiple languages, Readmio is poised to become a valuable tool for parents seeking to enrich their children’s storytelling experiences.
As of June 2025, the company is valued at €15 million. It has raised €1.1 million from investors like Zero Gravity Capital, DEPO Ventures, and CzechInvest. Recently, Readmio got an extra €500,000 from Simpact Ventures to expand internationally, especially in India.
Over the next 18 months, it plans to invest €250,000 in India to create local stories, work with schools, and improve its app. These funds will help Readmio make storytelling more interactive and enjoyable for children.
