Metaforms recently raised $9 million in a Series A funding round led by Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequoia India), with participation from Nexus Venture Partners and Together Fund. This brings the company’s total capital raised to just over $10 million to date.
Founded in 2022 by Akshat Tyagi and Arjun S and headquartered in Bengaluru (with U.S. operations in San Francisco), Metaforms has developed an AI‑powered platform that builds “research agents” for market research agencies. Its agents automate workflows such as survey programming, data processing, vendor coordination, and reporting support. Instead of replacing researchers, it supports them by building specialized AI agents that handle repetitive and time-consuming tasks across the research workflow.
Metaforms plans to use its recent $9 million funding to expand and enhance its product, team, and global reach. Here is what the company will do with the funding:
It will grow its engineering and AI research team significantly, especially in its Bengaluru office. The goal is to triple the current headcount so it can build more advanced features faster and improve the platform’s performance.
Metaforms also plans to develop new AI capabilities, such as automated report generation and voice-driven research workflows. This means researchers will be able to collect insights through voice calls and get summaries, tags, and emotional cues from conversations directly within the platform.
The company will deepen its integrations with other industry tools like SPSS, Decipher, and Confirmit. This will help research agencies work more smoothly by connecting Metaforms with the tools they already use.
Part of the funding will support international expansion, especially in the United States. Metaforms is planning to open a U.S. office, likely in New York, to serve its growing base of global clients and strengthen its presence in the largest research markets.
One of the key features Metaforms offers is the ability to turn a simple research brief or questionnaire document into a fully functional online survey within minutes. This eliminates the need for manual survey programming and significantly reduces the time required to set up.
Metaforms also supports voice-based research. It can schedule and conduct phone interviews, transcribe them in real time, and generate summaries that highlight key insights and emotional cues from respondents. This is especially helpful for qualitative research where spoken responses need to be understood in depth.
For data analysis, Metaforms can clean and structure survey data, apply quality checks, and automatically produce visual summaries or key findings. Researchers can review the output, make edits if needed, and deliver reports to clients much faster than traditional methods allow.
In short, Metaforms acts like an AI assistant for research operations. It helps companies save time, reduce errors, cut costs, and scale their research capabilities without increasing team size. Taking over repetitive tasks allows human researchers to focus on strategy, storytelling, and delivering better insights to clients.
It also helps teams respond to client requests more quickly by automatically generating cost estimates and timelines based on email proposals or project outlines.
