The collaboration is a part of the Indian Government’s larger vision under the ‘Startup India’ and ‘Make in India’ initiatives. It aims to nurture early-stage companies that are building technology-led solutions to solve real-world problems in the auto and transport sectors.

“India is home to a vibrant and growing startup ecosystem. Through this partnership with DPIIT, we can further accelerate support for promising startups,” said Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki.

The MoU was exchanged in the presence of several dignitaries. From DPIIT, Joint Secretary Sanjiv was present, while Maruti Suzuki was represented by key leaders such as Independent Director Anjali Bansal, Director of Corporate Planning Sunil Kakkar, Senior Executive Officer Rahul Bharti, and Executive Officer of Digital Enterprise Tapan Sahoo. The presence of both government and corporate representatives highlights the strategic nature of this partnership.

Speaking at the event, DPIIT Joint Secretary Sanjiv praised Maruti Suzuki’s deep industry experience and its legacy of innovation. He said that the automaker’s role as a mentor and partner could be a game-changer for startups. According to him, the MoU is designed to help startups transform their ideas into scalable and impactful solutions, ultimately boosting India’s leadership in next-generation manufacturing and mobility technologies.

Under the partnership, startups may receive access to Maruti Suzuki’s mentorship, research and development facilities, industry know-how, and possibly even funding or pilot support. The platform aims to connect entrepreneurs with real-world manufacturing challenges and help them build solutions that align with national priorities in sustainability, digital transformation, and self-reliant industry development.

This collaboration also reflects a broader push toward Atmanirbhar Bharat, or self-reliant India. By creating a strong ecosystem that connects the government, industry, and startups, the initiative is expected to drive meaningful innovation and contribute to India’s growth as a hub for advanced mobility solutions.
