Why In The News?

Bengaluru-based space technology startup GalaxEye is set to launch Mission Drishti, India’s largest privately built commercial satellite, in the first quarter of 2026. Innovative Technology: SyncFused OptoSAR

Mission Drishti features GalaxEye’s proprietary SyncFused OptoSAR technology, which combines Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and multispectral imaging sensors on a single platform.

This integration allows for high-resolution imagery with a spatial resolution of approximately 1.5 meters, irrespective of weather conditions or lighting.

This unique design enables continuous all-weather, high-resolution imagery, providing reliable geospatial data for applications such as disaster response, agriculture monitoring, infrastructure assessment, and defense.

Ambitious Plans for the Future

Following the launch of Mission Drishti, GalaxEye plans to establish a satellite constellation comprising 8 to 12 satellites by 2029.

This ambitious project aims to provide near real-time Earth observation capabilities, enhancing applications in defense, agriculture, disaster management, and infrastructure monitoring.

The company envisions this expansion as a step towards reducing dependence on foreign satellite data and enhancing India’s position in the global space industry
