Why In The News?

BiofuelCircle is a Pune-based clean energy startup founded in 2020 that’s changing how India handles agricultural waste. The company runs a digital marketplace that connects farmers, aggregators, and industries to trade biomass and biofuels. Its goal is simple: to turn crop residue into clean, usable fuel while reducing stubble burning and rural pollution.

The platform oversees the entire process, from collecting and storing crop waste to managing logistics, testing quality, and handling payments. It also operates “Biomass Banks,” which serve as local hubs for storage and processing, making it easier for farmers and small suppliers to participate.

With this model, BiofuelCircle is creating a more transparent, efficient, and sustainable ecosystem that benefits both rural communities and industries looking for greener alternatives.

What Makes BiofuelCircle Stand Out

BiofuelCircle’s biggest strength lies in how it connects every part of the biomass ecosystem through one digital platform.

Its unique selling proposition (USP) is the way it combines technology, transparency, and sustainability to make the biomass supply chain efficient and profitable for everyone involved.

The platform doesn’t just list buyers and sellers: it manages the entire journey of biomass, from collection and aggregation to logistics, financing, and quality checks. Its “Biomass Banks” are another standout feature, giving farmers local hubs where they can easily store and sell their crop residue instead of burning it.
